I haven’t had many trolls attack my work (FB posts excluded), but I have had to deal with people who disagree with me aggressively. I find the best response to them is to be diplomatic.

Trolls want to fight more than they want to be right. It’s more about them than it is about you. They’d attack a fence post if they thought they could get a rise out of it. I see it on FB all the time. If you just say something like, “Interesting point, Marcia. Thanks for reading!” It shuts them down pretty quick.

People who feel strongly that I’m wrong, I will engage in a discussion with, as long as they’re civil. Once in a while, I learn something. Other times, it only strengthens my resolve.
