I agree, Terry. Very depressing. Another one I saw around the same time was I Care a Lot. It’s Rosamund Pike as a shady legal guardian who works the system with unscrupulous doctors, attorneys, nursing home administrators, and judges to get people put under her conservatorship and then bilk them out of their fortunes. You get to watch her become ridiculously wealthy doing this. It’s supposed to be a comedy. It wasn’t funny, especially because I’m in my sixties. (I remember my mother. didn’t exactly get a kick out of On Golden Pond either.) Watching those two movies was like a double feature of The French Lieutenants’ Woman and Sophie’s Choice.
