I agree. "Single mom and incest survivor" doesn't exactly inspire me to read more since I'm neither and I've already read a ton of stories about that. Once in a while I read something I like and look for other stories by the same writer, only to discover that they always write about the same thing. I admit that some people are attracted to that and it has its place, but I believe it limits one's prospective readership.
