I agree about 2001, although it was always a thing to drop acid before seeing it so my opinion may be conditional. I disagree about GWTW. It was perfectly cast, the costumes are gorgeous and the script and music are fantastic. I loved all the characters.

Yes, Scarlet isn’t likeable which is the whole point. She’s deeply flawed. It may be the first time a studio shot its wad with a main character who is selfish, conceited, greedy, and ruthless. They even let her live at the end. Rhett, Mammy, Melanie, not likeable? Shut up! It’s a classic and, considering the production challenges, a bloody miracle.
