Great points, Bonsu. My father was a great dad to five daughters. We had a family business, so my sisters and I didn’t get a lot of one -on-one time with him, but we still managed to learn a lot. The best thing he did for us was to love and respect our mother. This more than anything informed our choice of future partners. Four of us are married, and each of those marriages has lasted at least 35 years. One of my sisters will celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary in December. The best dads show their daughters what a good man looks like, so that they know one when they see one. I would also add that I’ve seen bad parenting by moms do just as much damage as that by dads. It’s sometimes mothers who teach daughters that their value is only in their appeal to men and that the chief quality to look for in a partner is money. I think the following quote can empower anyone, regardless of the start they got in life : “You are responsible for what you make out of what you are made of.”
