Great advice for anyone, race aside, Scott. If one has a backup plan, one almost invariably falls back. It’s the advice my mother gave me, and I took it. I don’t necessarily regret what came after, much of it was great. But I do wonder what would have happened if her fear and mine hadn’t conspired to diminish my dreams.
