Good advice, A.M. I’ve written two screenplays. I like the process, especially since lengthy descriptions bore me. Another good reason to start simple is that your chances of getting a costume drama or special effects laden piece made are slim to none because it’s too expensive for producers to risk that on an unknown writer. In an interview, Seth Rogan said he wrote a tiger into his script assuming it would be CGI. They had to use a real one because they didn’t have the budget for a virtual one. (And this is after he became successful.) If Seth Rogen can’t afford a CGI tiger, neither can you.
