Food for thought, Jen. My CPA asked me to send our W-2s electronically. “But not by text,” he said. I laughed and said, “I’m 64 years old. I don’t do that. I have a scanner. But I don’t have a fax because I’m not 80.” He laughed (he’s 50ish), but you know, I lied. I send docs by text to my son occasionally.

You’re right. We say this stuff to sound superior and put the young ‘uns in their place. Probably because we feel ourselves losing credibility. What’s ironic is that it has the opposite effect. I sometimes say, “Back in ancient times when I was a kid….” That goes over better as it acknowledges that I realize it’s not relevant but I want to share it anyway. It takes the sting out of it.
