Exactly so, Matthew. That’s the same conclusion I came to after the last election. The difficulty is that too Americans believe that one day, their ship will come in, they’ll win the lottery or something, and they want to make sure that, when they do, the tax laws allow them to keep most of it. For this reason, people vote against their best interests. Nobody accepts the fact that some of us are poor and always will be.
