Everything old is new again, Ossiana. In the 1970s, Phyllis Schlafly basically invented the movement. What’s ironic is that she was an attorney, ran for Congress, wrote over 25 books and amassed an astonishing amount of power and influence: not exactly a stay-at-home mom. Yes, she had a bunch of kids but I’m guessing there wasn’t much time for cupcakes and sleepovers while Mommy was busy quashing the Equal Rights Amendment. Lucky Phyllis was rich, so she didn’t have to practice what she preached. Men gave her power because she told them what they wanted to hear.
